Gardening Grannies, “Blitz on the Beach” 11 July, 2007

Twelve very ‘hot’ grannies came out on the hottest day of summer to “Garden for the Gogos”. Granny member Louise Shaw, who is Landscaping & Grounds Manager for Summertree-On-The-Lake came up with the idea and oversaw the project throughout all the two-hour shifts.

We donated our $10/hour wage, and earned an extra dollop of self-respect for doing a job that several of us gladly pay the younger generation to do. There’s something about sweating and slogging away in the soil that helped to temporarily level the field with our gogo partners in South Africa. Talk about Sisterhood!
