Act Locally and Think Globally was a six hour festival at Vernon Secondary School with music performers, stage performers, artists and a variety of poets coming together to raise money for local poverty issues on Saturday, January 10, 2009 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Working in conjunction with the Global Ed. Class, local performer and grade 10 student, Anderz McIntyre, organized this event to raise awareness of global problems while at the same time raising funds to address local poverty issues.
Grannies à Gogo had a display and a table of items for sale in the foyer of VSS. Also, Sarah Rose took part in the program reading poetry written by Susan Fenner, the subject being the lives of our Gogos in Africa.
Anderz writes, “I look up to Grannies à Gogo because it’s one of the few organizations in the Okanagan working towards the serious problem of the HIV virus in Africa.”
